My Thoughts of MRMW 2019

MRMW

We were fortunate that the 2019 Market Research for the Mobile World (MRMW) was held just a few miles from our headquarters here in Cincinnati, OH.  For researchers pushing innovation and new techniques, this conference should be high on your list for attending.  Here are a few of my thoughts from the conference:

Not Just Mobile Focused

This year’s MRMW had a great line-up of speakers, including Proctor & Gamble (P&G), Google, PayPal, Facebook, iHeartMedia, and Burke, but the focus expanded beyond just mobile to other technologies and innovations.  This included discussions on Artificial Intelligence, new research techniques, DIY tools, and automation.

New Techniques put into Practice

It is always great to see new research techniques or methods discussed, especially from end-clients and research buyers like P&G, Royal Caribbean, BMW, and Eastman Chemical.  They were able to share the new techniques they are employing, as well as the best practices of how they are integrating new innovations to deliver stronger insights more efficiently.  I felt this was probably the most valuable portion of the conference, especially since most attendees were fully engaged and asked insightful questions.  It was better than other conferences where some speakers give their presentations and just leave.

Intimate Setting

MRMW was a much more intimate conference than I expected, or honestly, it should be.  With new technological innovations infiltrating the market research industry on a daily basis, I was surprised there were not more attendees. However, after looking back on it, it may have been intentional to ensure the intimacy.  An overabundance of attendees would diminish the advantages that the intimate nature of the conference provides.

Overall, I really liked this conference.  I would recommend it to market researchers who are looking for new techniques or how to better incorporate innovations into their methodologies.
