Intellicast S4E32 – An Insights Marketing Day Preview

Welcome back to Intellicast! We have a special episode for you this week.  We are joined by two special guests, both of whom will be part of Insights Marketing Day, coming up on September 29, 2021, in Chicago.

In our first interview, we are joined by Michelle Gansle, the Vice President of Global Strategic Insights at McDonald’s.  We talk with her about her background and how it led her to her current role at McDonald’s. We then discuss her participation on the panel “Everything You Wanted to Know From a Corporate Researcher, But Were Afraid to Ask” at Insights Marketing Day. 

Michelle gives us a few tips for working with corporate researchers, as well as some advice to people who are trying to sell to her and other corporate researchers.  She also talks about how they determine their research goals and priorities, and what they look for in a partner to help execute.

We then bring back the 4 P’s to learn a bit more about Michelle, including her proficiency in languages, her love of travel, as well as some of the board games she has gotten into since the pandemic started.

In our second interview, we are joined by Sebastian Schuliaquer, the Global Brand Insights Director at Kellogg’s. Sebastian gives us his background, and how it has led him to his current role with Kellogg’s.  He then discusses some of the questions he thinks he will get on the panel at “Everything You Wanted to Know From a Corporate Researcher But Were Afraid to Ask” at Insights Marketing Day. 

Sebastian also talks about some of the vendor pitches he has had given to him, and he gives some advice to others on what they should do (like learn about the client challenges) and shouldn’t do (like ask budget upfront). 

We then discuss the approach that Kellogg’s takes with their research, and how they help supply each market with insights to help them make decisions.

We switch gears and get to learn Sebastian a bit better. We learned that Sebastian knows how to surf, loves to cook, and he gives us a great hack involving Frosted Flakes, chocolate chips, and cold milk.  (We have since tried it at the office and it has our stamp of approval!)
