Employee Spotlight: Jake Wooldredge

At EMI, our team is one of our strongest assets. Over the course of this year, we will be highlighting all our team members. We continue this week with a question-and-answer session with Accounting Clerk, Jake Wooldredge. Continue reading to learn more about Jake!

What do you do at EMI?

I am an accounting clerk who mainly handles the payments to our partners. Along with payables, I also have a hand in the receivables/collections process as well as producing various reports.

Jake Wooldridge

What led you to EMI?

I was led to EMI through conversations with a staffing agency I was a part of before employment. I graduated from NKU with a bachelor’s in accounting and acquired a position at a family-owned firm during tax season. My experience there allowed me to appreciate working for a smaller business and fueled my desire to perform accounting duties for service industries.

When you aren’t at work, you are…?

I am usually with my teammates training BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) after work.

What is your favorite quote?

“Anxiety is the dizziness of freedom.” – Soren Kierkegaard

What is your favorite food?

Mexican.

What is your favorite thing about EMI?

Definitely the people. Everyone is super nice and personable!

What is your favorite music band/genre/artist?

My favorite band is “The Band”.

What is your favorite book?

1984 – George Orwell

Do you listen to podcasts?  If so, what is your favorite?

The Joe Rogan Podcast.

What are some of your hobbies?

A lot of my time is spent practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as well as playing music with friends.

What’s your perfect vacation?

Mackinac Island during the summer; Key West during the winter.

As you get older, what are you most afraid of?

Not having enough time.

What do you view as success? (Either personal or professional)

Attaining as much knowledge as possible, enjoying my time, making a difference, and making it to the end without too many regrets would be success to me.

What is your life goal/dream/aspiration?

There’s a lot I want to too alongside accounting. Music and competing in MMA are things that I strive to find a balance between, so getting all of these things to align is my goal.

If you could take one thing on a deserted island with you, what would it be?

The rights to the show “Friends”. No one would ever have to watch it again.

And finally, which of the 4 core values of EMI do you most relate to? (Agility, Accountability, Integrity, or Passion)

Integrity would be my choice and one of the top reasons I chose accounting (to improve integrity within financial data and reporting).
